Cerec

Most permanent restorations require two visits to get the job done. The Cerec procedure, however, enables the tooth to be prepared, the crown or onlay made and fitted all in one appointment. For you, the patient, this means fewer injections, less drilling and less time out of your busy schedule to spend visiting the dentist!

The Cerec crowns, onlays and veneers are made with a strong, tooth coloured ceramic material, resulting in a strong, fully functional, natural looking tooth.

The procedure for making a Cerec restoration starts the same as a crown preparation, with the tooth being prepared as required. Next a picture of the prepared tooth and surrounding teeth is taken with a special camera. The computer then uses these pictures to produce an image to work with. The dentist then uses this image to design your restoration to fit perfectly. Once happy with the design, the specific size ceramic block is selected, in the required shade, and placed in the milling machine. The milling machine uses the information from the computer to grind away at the block, creating your new tooth. The Cerec restoration is then polished and permanently fitted with a strong bonding tooth superglue!
