2nd COVID UPDATE APRIL 2020
We hope that you are keeping well in this unprecedented situation!
You may be aware that dental practices have been told to cease all routine treatment for patients until further notice. We are however expected to be available to provide advice and medication if you have a dental problem.
If you need advice which is not very urgent, ideally please email us at
If you need urgent advice, please ring me on 07388 250126 and I'll get back to you within a short time.
We have been told to avoid face to face treatment with patients if we don't have the appropriate protective gear, regardless of the clinician's or the patient's Covid-19 status. Dental practices do not have the correct FFP3 face masks available to them, and they are unavailable to order from dental supply companies.
We will try to deal with your dental pain with appropriate painkillers such as Ibuprofen or Co-codamol in the first instance.
If you have an infection or swelling we will supply you with an antibiotic or a prescription for you to take to a pharmacy if necessary.
If you have a lost filling or a broken piece of tooth don't panic! It is likely to be rough and perhaps sensitive to temperature. Smooth the rough piece using a piece of emery board or a nail file-this will take away the sharpest edge so the tongue doesn't get injured. If there is a fillable hole in a tooth, buy a temporary filling kit at the pharmacy and follow the instructions.
If you have a problem after following these procedures, you will then be sent to the local dental emergency centre using NHS111, and telling them you have been triaged by your own dentist. They will then prioritise you, but expect this service to be very busy! They need to change their protective gear after every patient so not many patients can be seen in a day...
I hope this all makes sense, and we look forward to seeing you as soon as we can!
Best wishes, and stay well
Michael Habisreutinger and the team at Woodstock Dental Practice
